*~ YaKiYaKiBo! ~*

It has been ages since i last went to Jurong Point. Cindy, Michelle and I had decided to finally catch Red Cliff on a thursday after work. But it was still so popular and hard to get tickets in town, we settled for the GV at Jurong Point finally. :)

As usual Japanese food is always great for Cindy and me :D and to my wonderful surprise, the basement has changed! The chain of Japanese restaurants linked to Ichiban Sushi has this little Japanese food street in Jurong Point.

*~ Entrance to the little jap food "street" ~*

Reminded me a little of Japan. :) except this was inside a mall. But still felt a bit of nolstagia.

It was a long wait even though it was a Thursday evening. While queuing outside Yakiyakibo, we got Chris to help us take some photos.

*~ Outside YakiYakiBo ~*

*~ Yummylicious food!! ~*

*~ Cindy-san & Me ~*

*~ Chris-san & Pyong-chan ~*

*~ Chawanmushi ~*

This was really unique. The chawanmushi was made in a little onion "bowl", so the essence of the onion was also in the steamed egg. Although the portion was tiny, but it tasted great! mmm~~

Anyways, we saw Red Cliff after that. Oooo loved the movie! Now i'm so curious about the history of the 3 Kingdoms.. any good English book to recommend?? :D

*~ I love Fridays! ~*

24th July 2008 (Thursday)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Went for my 2nd therapy session. Got to the hospital 3 min past 4pm. Went to look for Mr Ho at room 11 and i found the room dark! Got a shock, checked with the counter lady and she told me to check with room 9. Rushed to room 9, asked the nurse and found that Mr Ho had left at 1pm because he wasn't feeling well. >_< Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Since the first waiting area was for Physiotherapy, i went straight to the nurse for help. And we had a whole "small argument" about how i had to go back to the clinic, get a form like the one she was holding, then make another appt. No! I didn't want to make another appt, i was already there after rushing there from office by cab! So finally she suggested for me to go to Occupational Therapy and see if they could help me.. *duh*

Went to Occupational Therapy and told them my story and to my relief, Mr Ho had already informed them that i would be there. I was so disappointed at how "helpful" the previous nurses had been, but i was so relieved Mr Ho had not forgotten abt me and my poor hand.

Did a new "wax therapy" this time, where i dip my hand in hot wax (sounds kinky?) 10 times to make myself a 'wax glove' the funny uncle calls it. But my "glove" tore.. so i couldn't have it.
Progress? Hmm now i can bend my hand forwards 24 degrees (out of 90 degrees) and backwards 64 degrees (also out of 90 degrees). The target is to hit 40 deg by next week, and then 60. Subsequently, 60 to 90 will be slow.. so this window is really crucial for me.. *wish me luck*

25th July 2008 (Friday)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Although my silly wish did not come true today, but it was still a great day. Didn't accomplish much work but somehow there was alot to wrap up and loose ends to tie up.. got a little hectic nevertheless. But i had woken up feeling really happy because i had managed to sleep the night before. Well, although the tummy is still hurting (you can't expect it to be OK just with a snap of your fingers..) i already started to have cravings for food!!

Lunch was at AJISEN, where we had ramen and some cool side dishes - white fish, fried tofu, meat balls and california maki! That's alot of food!! But this special lunch set which comes with a ramen, a side dish and a drink costs only $10.90++.

Staying back a little late in office as usual, Chris, Ani, Soo yean, Michelle and me went some of our favourite "ICHIBAN SUSHI". Menu has changed since i last went there, price of sushi also went up from $1.90 to $2.10. But it's still really good sushi and value for money i have to admit, especially because of the variety.

Now i'm suffering from my own overeating.. heee~ but its still cool :D~

*~ EQC Offsite 18th July 2008 @ ECP ~*

My first EQC event i participated as a player. :P Since joining in 2006, i've always helped out as an organiser. So despite being "partially handicapped" i really wanted to PLAY!! *hurray!*

So after half a day of work, it was time to have some fun! On top of the few cars by some of the pple, we also booked to maxi-cabs :P

*~ On our way to East Coast Park ~*

Lunch was served! already starving since it was an hour or more past lunch :P But food was great! Some indian curries and naan, Sarpino's pizza, and ikan billis fried rice from the hawker center. And some seedless grapes!

*~ Glorious Food ~*

After lunch was time for some games! Some of us were too excited and started off with some charades (our favourite since the last offsite) which we play using our Pictionary cards.

The actual games started when the most popular guy that day, Thow Wee who was also the GamesMaster explained the rules to the first "Yes" or "No" game. Again using our pictionary cards, the idea is for the group to ask questions to the team member who has read the word on the card. This team member is only allowed to answer "Yes" or "No". Within a min, if the team gets the answer, they are awarded 2 points. Else it's opened to the other groups to make one wild guess for a bonus 2 points!

*~ Yes! We got it! ~*

Next up on the list was a game called "Minefield". A game that was planned for last yr's offsite but we never had enough time to play it. In blindfolds, and with the help of team members, we were supposed to pick up all the treasures without coming into contact with the mines. Subsequently, we had to display our knowledge of borland at the Borland Quiz. (hmm.. and those were familiar questions again.. which zana and i came up with last yr. Unfortunately, i didn't remember the answers! HAH! :P)

*~ This is the legendary minefield... ~*

We love eating so it was time for tea! Specially catered from Delifrance. Cool stuff!

*~ Time for TEA! ~*

And there is always time to fool around and push each other onto the ground for photos. :P

*~ TIMBER!!! ~*

*~ Beauties and the Beach ~*

*~ EQC! ~*

Last 2 games were to get us all in blindfolds and to stop us from making anymore noises so our GameMaster Thow Wee and Assistant Cindy could have some peace. :)

Mostly the puzzles were to arrange ourselves in some kind of order. And we know who cheated!!

*~ Let us get ourselves in order now ~*

*~ a Square! ~*

The moment we've all been waiting for.. *Prize Giving!!* And guess who won!

*~ Runners up! ~*

*~ "We are the champions!!" ~*

Isn't it strange to visit a beach but not get wet? Someone had to sacrifice, so we sacrificed Ganesh. And he dragged Krishna with him.. poor Krishna's handphone was damaged cos of this.. *shakes head* heee~

*~ Ganesh taking a dip ~*

*~ Krishna joining him ~*

A wonderful team building session. We got to see a different side of everyone, getting to also bond more quickly with the new guys in the office. :) Great!! it was just GREAT! :D

Complications after complications...

had a tummy ache since monday.. which i thought was tolerable until it still hadn't gone away today.. finally decided i'd better see a doctor.
Turns out the painkillers i was given for my tendon inflammation was really too strong for me even though i had pills to prevent gastric pains. And those tummy pains turned out to be gastric pains. Dr Chayan said i could have internal bleeding if i continued to take those painkillers. :( *scary*
so now i will be a good girl.. needa stop taking pills for my wrist and take other medication to cure the gastric problems first..

Lesson learnt: do not underestimate tummy aches.. even if you think you can tolerate the pain. Hmm and i need to remember that pains at the area, center of the upper portion of the stomach, is probably gastric pains.

gonna be a slow week..

Last thursday i went back to SGH for my follow-up appointment with Dr Jacq. Tan. So some updates, she says its nothing too serious. Just that i have some tendon inflammation (i forgot the funky name...) which is why my movement is restricted and causing me pains up to my knuckles. And being ever so "lucky", i was so 2nd patient of hers to develop this complication. :(

My predecessor was also in the IT line and apparently went back to typing after 1 week. sounds like what i did, but i didn't put that much pressure on my right hand. In fact i'm still working the mouse with my left hand..

Anyways, i have to take some super strong painkillers which will also reduce the swelling. *sob*

Will back date on the EQC offsite when i finally upload the photos tomorrow ;)

My older sis keeps doing this to me, recommend some addictive HK serial, get me hooked and then forgets to pass me the last 1 or 2 discs (abt 3 to 6 episodes). This is the 2nd serial i have watched 90%!!

I'm sincerely waiting for the last 3 eps of this serial, 《師奶股神》 Money-Maker Recipe

Started watching this because it was funny how the villian was exploiting a housewife and her influence on other housewives in the estate by feeding her information on the stock market. Unfortunately the storyline is a little predictable..

2nd one is really good stuff! 《法证先锋II》 Forensic Heroes II

The show is about solving crimes and gives u alot of insight to forensic science. Its funny how i'm really hooked and love the idea they keep finding clues and evidences, going through the objects again and again in case they overlooked some details. Also amazing what kind of inferences and conclusions they can come up with. Kudos to the scriptwriter! I think it gives the same sense of satisfaction as I get from finding a bug. :D

*~ Mid-week blues ~*

Feeling strangely sleepy tonight.. got my book on Narnia back from my sis.. so maybe i will just laze in bed reading later on.. But feeling a little blue too.. today didn't go as nicely as i would have hoped..

Due to some miscommunication on the phone, i thought i made an appointment to see my doctor today but the hospital had made the appt for yesterday. Turned out to be a wasted trip even if i were to insist on waiting.. cos Dr Jac Tan wasn't in today :(

Anyways i finally measured the wound after > 4 weeks.. it's not abt 2.5 cm long. Probably was around 3cm, 4 weeks ago. :P

*~ my wrist 4 weeks after the op ~*

The wound isnt doing too well.. my wrist is still really stiff but i've got too impatient i started to use 2 fingers on the right hand already. But i'm still mostly depending on my left hand right now. :P And writing is also a problem.. lucky thing is i can hold the pen the chinese calligraphy way (which i had learnt when i was just 9.. ) as long as it doesn't put strain on the knuckles.. its hard to explain.

Although there's the blues.. but also good things~ The week started really well! Phia bought me a new 4-leaf clover pendant from Julie Roberts. Costs $108 :P But i love it! Its like a heart-shaped locket except its not a locket, with the clover on the inside of the pendant. :)

*~ my good luck charm ~*

Do you believe that making a wish to your 4 leaf clover, it could possibly come true? On Monday things turned out so well it seemed a little incredible. Somehow unexpectedly everything fell in place for me and made it possible for me to have a 1-1 with T, and get some answers which i hadn't expected T to have even considered. Tues was another smooth day :) Today was a little weird... i wished my wrist would be ok, but i didn't see my doctor. So it still worked out that my wrist is "OK" because no one said it isn't, right?? maybe i should not make the same wish again tomorrow else the appt might get messed up again. *hah*

A week-ful of fun, food, drinks and laughter

This week i realised how old and tired i've become. Remembering the good old days staying in hall, juggling my Final Year Project and of cos cramming for exams, the yearly hall production (as lead actress okie.. :P) and alot of supper & activities. I could survive sleeping at 3am and waking up for 8.30am class in the mornings.

I thought i would be able to pull through a week of late night activities after a long day of hard work.. but by tues i was already so worn out :( Despite all the bodyaches and hard-to-drag-myself-outta-bed mornings, it was a great week! I truly felt like a tourist in my home country! :D

29th June 2008 (Sunday)

First stop: New Asia Bar. Up on the 71st floor of Swisshotel, The Stamford (our old Westin Stamford). The view is just spectacular from there.

*~ Enjoying some drinks ~*

*~ Looking over the city from New Asia Bar ~*

Following the drinks, we had a localised dinner at the well-known Lau Pa Sat where we had some sambal stingray, buttered sotong, satay, chicken wings and fried rice.

*~ Dinner @ Lau Pa Sat ~*

30th June 2008 (Monday)

Back at work on Monday, also Didi2's first time at EQC. Emptying more than half his luggage of goodies and preorders from us. :D We had a 15 min Goodies sharing session at the conference room. *heehee~*

*~ Look at all the chocos!! ~*

Team dinner was decided to be at Khansama, Science Hub (in Science Park 1) Funny thing how i've never known the Punjabi restaurant after working in Science Park for 2.5 yrs before going to Borland. Was feeling a bit nolstalgic....

*~ The team @ Khansama ~*

*~ Appetisers ~*

*~ Some naan and curries ~*

After dinner we had a quick tour in Chinatown, where Didi2 got his wife a nice top and a skirt to go with. ;)

*~ Chinatown ~*

Zana & Ani called and arranged to meet us for some drinks. So we headed to Long Bar at Raffles Hotel for some Singapore Sling!! Highly recommended by Didi when he was here with Max. Long Bar is also famous for the loads of peanut shells on the ground :P

*~ My 1st Singapore Sling (excluding what i had on the plane) ~*

1st July 2008 (Tuesday)

Time for some sightseeing at Clarke Quay and Boat Quay where I had my first boat ride along Singapore River!!~

We settled for a quick dinner at Kopitiam in Central @ Clarke Quay, which had a great view of the Singapore river and Clarke quay itself.

*~ Sunset @ Clarke Quay ~*

*~ The bumboat we took along Singapore River ~*

Never realised how beautiful Singapore has become until i rode along the Singapore River. Alot of effort had been put in to build up this amazing skyline. And also we were lucky as they had just cleaned up the river earlier this yr!

*~ The beautiful skyline ~*

2nd July 2008 (Wednesday)

Wednesdays are commonly "Ladies' Nite" at lots of clubs. The plan was to just chill out again at St James.

Chris first drove us up to Mount Faber, near to Harbourfront, where we had a good look over Singapore from the 2nd highest nature point of Singapore.

*~ Looking over from Mt Faber ~*

Some Hong Kong style meals which is a mixture of Western and Eastern styles. Cheese baked rice/spaggetti with curry and stuff like that. *yummy!*

*~ Dinner @ HongKong Kim Gary in VivoCity~*

We went to Movida for its good world music and great singers and dancers before heading to Bellini's for 5 free drinks each lady!

*~ Bellini's Bar ~*

3rd July 2008 (Thursday)

Finally I decided to take a break and go home to rest early since the plan was to go to the Night Safari. But... i ended up rushing more work at home and still having a late night. (guess its time to rethink my values in life again.. :P)

4th July 2008 (Friday)

How can a visitor's trip to EQC be complete without a photo with the girls? :D

*~ Didi2 surrounded by the EQC girls ~*

After work, some shopping was planned in IMM near the office, followed by a great dinner at East Coast Park.

*~ Local Delights @ East Coast Park ~*

5th July 2008 (Saturday)
We brought Didi to to do some last min shopping in Suntec where he got some spicy sauces for the guys back in Linz. Also part of the plan was to educate him on some feng shui that has led to the prosperous business in Suntec City.

*~ The famous $$Fountain of Wealth$$ ~*

Following which was a drive thru Orchard and then some more shopping. Didi also found himself
a Singapore Survivor t-shirt which he has proven to be truly worthy of. :P

Finally we went to Sentosa, also a famous tourist attraction to do some sightseeing. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to enjoy drinks at the beach, we ended up just walking from Siloso beach to the other end of Palawan beach, enjoying the scenery made up the beach babes and hunks of cos! ;)

*~ The Merlion ~*

Dinner at Thai Express was really good stuff. Didi2 had become so accustomed to spicy food, we decided to stretch him a little with the last meal in SG. ;)

*~ Didi2 really enjoying the spice! ~*

Of course, this week was an exception.. like how the Linz guys had given an excuse abt the drinking "Because we were there, there was then more drinking after work". Similarly.. we also did more going out and sightseeing than we would in 2 months i would say. ;)
