*~ Sunrise at the Zoo ~*

I really wanted to do a nice post of Day 2 of the docent programme but my lack of sleep it preventing me from doing so...
Nevertheless, the excitement from seeing the sunrise from KidzWorld @ the Zoo is uncontainable! haha!~

Look at the clear reflection in the reservoir.. it's beautiful.. at about 7am in the morning...

*zipping off to bed...* 9.16pm

New Camera plan foiled by the PC Show...

I was so determined to buy the Panasonic Lumix LX3 at the PC Show but to my disappointment, there was no Panasonic booth nor any booth selling Panasonic cameras.
After checking out xiaxue's blog about her new LX3, i was really convinced!! And she blinged it so nicely!!~

Anyways since i have to wait till i get a new cam.. i decided to read the manual of my Samsung NV3, clean the lens which Chris said is sooo messed up :P~ (my fault, i tried to use my shirt to clean it before cos the cold weather when i was travelling always fogged up the lens)

After some newly learnt settings come some randomly taken pics of my male model....

*~ Mart's wedding ~*

A hectic day.. rushing off early from the docent training in Mandai, picking up futing and shermaine from bukit panjang and to Shiv's house in katong to get changed and made up in less than 10 min and then to joo chiat for mart's wedding! woohoo!~

Mart's wedding was Lagun Sari Restaurant at Joo Chiat Road. Nice deco and throne seats fit for the King and Queen of the day, are typical for Malay weddings. :)

Meeting up with old friends like Eric is another typical highlight at weddings~

Taking photos with pretty girls is also a habit.. :D

Finally the Bride and Groom re-appear after changing out of their favourite PINK gown and suit (which i missed!!) and coming out in the elegance of WHITE.

*~ Docent Training - Day 1 ~*

Heather brought us to Jules who gave us a detailed insight behind the scenes of the "Fragile Forest". Learning the importance of frogs, how they are the first to "go" if the ecosystem is endangered due to their highly permeable skin. Respect for frogs go up now.. :)

The first time in my life i touched a worm with my bare finger was in the Singapore zoo! Convinced by a group mate that it was really soft, i stuck out 1 finger to stroke the tiny colourful (red, white, black) worm! eeeeeeek~ my goodness! it's really soft leh!! O_O"

We learnt from Jules (a zookeeper in the fragile forest) that these guys are imported from Japan.. and are poisonous. Note that poisonous != venomous, that's why we can touch it yah?! DUH.. heee~ but yes, its poisonous cos of the leafys it eats as seen in the above pic. That is where the poison comes from. And Red/White/Black are warning signs on danger in the animal kingdom! mmm~

*~ All that glitters is not gold ~*

Excitingly this poisonous little soft creature spins a golden glittery cocoon! It's simply amazing! Jules explained that it's to look like... ***drumroll*** a RAINDROP! How cool is that!

Jules holding a block with a Tarantula on top

Nope, she didn't let us touch this one.. :D Why? cos this guy is venomous! Now u know the difference? This was new for me.. *blush*
"Venomous animals store toxins internally and release them through biting or stinging, disabling what ever organism they bite or sting. Poisonous animals usually secrete toxins through their skin so that whatever creature bites or touches them is poisoned."
mmm i think in other words, one is active and one is passive?

Day 2 will be a stayover at the zYY!

*~ Yay! KTV! ~*

Q: What do a bunch of overworked girls do on a friday night?
A: They go to Party World and jump around on the couch!

I never knew all girls did the same thing! I used to do this with feng, getting on our feet on the couch :P The "crazy" girls at work are just as sporting!

shermaine, cindy, me & futing

We've been talking about ktv for sooooo long, finally our wish came true! A very impromptu decision to check out the newly renovated Party World at Clementi~
There's even a leg massager in the room!
Check out the large LCD screens and a funky looking table in the middle of the room!~

范晓萱 (Mavis Fan) on the screen with 氧气

Getting bored i went to play with the million and one switches on the wall and found some disco lightings!

futing, shermaine, me

ft's hubby giving a concert in the corner

Hmm~ 4 hours was actually a little short although there were only 4 girls and a boy fighting for air time.. :P But we had fun!

Alpana's last day

*sob* yet another farewell... and the 2nd one from our team in a row.. (after michelle)
We used to be the team with the most number of girls and the manager with the headache cos he was the only guy.. but now there are just 2 of us (sally and me) still going strong..

Alpana looking sad...

It has become a strange tradition to have a cake with candles for a farewell party but then the idea of blowing out the candles which represents the number of years you've spent in the company... is kinda melancholic..? Its like "thanks guys, i've come to the end of this journey with u.."

Blowing out the candles...

Best wishes for your future endeavours Alpana!

*~ Satisfied ~*

As the saying goes, "when one door closes, another opens". Things couldn't get better at the moment~

Went for an interview for a zoo volunteer programme after an ex-colleague sent the link and training starts this sunday! Seems like a pretty exciting thing to be doing ever since i gave up my active lifestyle when i started working....

This week there were news that there is a rival bidder for our company and that sent the share price up a little and i managed to sell off those i had held for a little profit :)

Happy with my buys during the weekend, a new umbrella with 2 layers of UV protection~ For practical reasons, i gave up a white one with 4-leaf clover prints which had just 1 layer of UV protection.. heheee~

A new foundation recommended by feng, and a new glittery CanMake eye shadow for Jewelstar Eyes to satisfy the vain side of me. ;)

Finally went for i-Run today with cindy and shermaine. yay~ got some motivation to get fit and healthy so i can run further to see where the park connector leads~ :D

*~ Henderson Waves ~*

By coincidence and totally unplanned for, i saw Henderson waves for the first time while feng and i were driving along Telok Blangah. Being curious and feeling really ulu for a Singaporean.. i was dying to visit the place. But knowing how inappropriate it was i didn't dare to really ask feng about it. girl, i really appreciate u stopping by the place for me to take a look.. i really hope your troubles will be solved and as a friend i can only be there as much as you need me to..

A map of the southern ridges

A signboard along the way to our destination

The beginning of the wave

It was a terrible hot sunday afternoon and both of us were super in appropriately dressed, feng was in heels and they were getting stuck in grooves between the wooden planks of the bridge.

Henderson waves

But it was all worth a little sun, the place is great! I'm lookin forward to HORTPARK next!

*~ JC Class Gathering ~*

Thanks to yingwei for checking out nice places for dinner, we settled for dinner at Creperie des Arts, a small restaurant opened by a french couple who moved to singapore 3 yrs ago. The chef was actually the 2nd son of the couple~ hmm again thanks to yingwei's research work we chatted a little with the boss to get these facts~

*~ Creperie des Arts @ Prinsep Place ~*

After some recommendation from the owner himself, we ordered a bottle of apple cider (2% alcohol) which costs $30.

*~ Special alcoholic Apple Cider ~*

Famous for crepes obviously, i ordered one with egg and ham.. strange combination for dinner maybe, but it was great at $18.90.

*~ My order! the "Complete" ~*

*~ The Hungry Five ~*

Remembering teck's first attempt with a shy snail who had retreated into a far end of its shell.. the boss had to help us poke it out. :P (6 pcs - $15.50)

*~ Escargots for the curious ones ~*

*~ Dessert!~ Creole! @ $17.90~ ~*

We met the rest of the gang at Mind's Cafe for 2 hours of games and snacks where we ended up playing only 1 game of Citadels which we have at home.. so $12.90 for that wasn't so worth it.. Plus.. the table next to us were so excited over Jurassic Jumble!! *puuhhh*

*~ This is us, after a hard 2 hours of scheming at citadels ~*

*~ Saizerya - a Japanese chain of Italian family-style restaurants ~*

Visited Saizerya @ Liang Court for a 2nd time and brought a proper camera with me but unfortunately not the appetite :(

The official website in Japanese

The prices on the menu are pretty affordable for the quality and variety of food you get there.

The garlic foccacia costs $2+. Goes well with soups (seafood, clam chowder & minestrone)

This tasty spicy sausages and potato wedges were just $5+ and they tasted great and hot from the pan!

The hamburg steak with some additional bacon, especially looking good with the sunny-side-up of course! Except the egg which was a little hard, this main course was still reasonably priced at less than $10!

The risotto was also unique, and soupy.. i'm not so familiar with how it ought to taste or look :P costs i think $7+?

There's always some space for dessert especially when its chocolate cake! The cake was good~ and chocolatey but a little more pricey compared to the other members on the menu for $5+.

Free flow of drinks from the drinks bar is just < $3 where u get soft drinks, coffee, tea and juice.

If you're just looking for a nice place for dinner but not intending to spend too much, this is definitely worth a try. :)

*~ The Gem of Life ~*

Hmm.. been a mth plus since i last blogged. I have not disappeared, just taking a break and thinking things through although I can't really make any decisions now. So I will just do what's on my plate to the best possible and wait for any next instructions. :)

Mom has decided my camera had a bigger screen and forgotten to return it... am really tempted to buy a new auto camera which can take photos of SLR quality. Any recommendations?

Yet another accomplishment! The Gem of Life, 82 episodes.. i'm finally done!! (after about a mth..) Cried my accumulated frustrations out with the last 10 or so episodes till 1+ am last night. Now i'm clear headed again, rested and ready to go :)

*~ i'm so into shoes ~*

it's always been a habit that when i go shoes-shopping, i can't never stop at one pair, but in times like these it calls for some self discipline~ i guess i will stop at 3... :)

had been needing a pair of sport shoes to join in the B-run (Borland-run) we have every wednesday after work. It may now become MF-run (Micro Focus-run) if all goes well the following 6~8 weeks.Headed down to Queensway, a popular place to get sports attire at a good price, and finally and picked up this cool pair. The man with wings stood out among the common nike designs~ it was almost love at first sight~ :D

$179 $125

After Angels and Demons at Great World, i got "lured" into EverBest for the first time.. always had the impression they had comfy shoes, and which girl doesn't need comfy shoes??

Probably this is the 'not-such-a-good-deal' among the 3 but i was attracted to the tiny flowers and it fitted my new criteria that it should not make "flip-flop" sounds when i walk into the office :P

$79.9 $49.90

Another good deal~ 50% discount because they do not have the regular sizes available. I had picked up one of a darker colour but they ran out of my size. The lady managed to convince me that beige was also nice and it turns out the pearly colour looked good in photos~

$99.90 $49.50

Confessions of a shopaholic~ ;) I am now done justifying my buys~ Shopping never fails to make girls happy~
